About a week ago, Metro Pedal Power began delivering food to some of Food For Free’s recipient agencies for us. On March 28th, MetroPed staffer Chris Boucher delivered a total of 453 pounds to the snack programs of two schools in Cambridge: Prospect Hill Academy and the Fletcher Maynard Afterschool. Food delivered included fresh oranges and bananas, fruit juices, cold cereal, shelf stable milk, canned fruit, soup, tuna, and peanut butter.

Also on Monday, MetroPed picked up and delivered to Food For Free over 250 pounds of fresh produce (including carrots and rutabaga) that was the surplus from the Red Fire Farm’s Somerville CSA distribution on Saturday. We turned this produce around right away and delivered it—on the same day—to the LBJ Apartments Food Pantry and the CEOC Food Pantry in Cambridge, and to the Pine Street Inn in Boston.
