2014 Feinstein Challenge

A man stands next to a table of produce with a sign that says "Food For Free."

It doesn’t feel like it, but spring is just around the corner. Here at Food For Free, this means that it’s time to prepare for the growing season and to plan for the year ahead.

March 1 marks the beginning of an annual, national fundraising campaign called the Feinstein Challenge.

By participating in the Challenge, Food For Free is able to raise more money for our programs while calling attention to the nationwide crisis of food insecurity.

Your contribution between March 1 and April 30 will help to:

■ Distribute more than 1 million pounds of food this year, of which 70% will be fresh vegetables and fruits

■ Prevent over 600,000 pounds of food from being discarded and entering the waste stream

■ Work with Boston Area Gleaners to bring local crop surpluses back into the food system

■ Reach 87 local food programs, including not only pantries and meals, but also youth programs, like the Cambridge Weekend Backpack Program

■ Make twice-monthly deliveries of food to over 90 low-income seniors and people with disabilities each month, in partnership with Boston Organics

■ Harvest 11 varieties of organic vegetables from our own beds at Field of Greens

Please make a contribution contribution today.

Thank you for your support!
