See the NECN segment about us. Check out Food for Free's photostream. Food For Free responds to local hunger by rescuing fresh food that might otherwise go to waste and distributing it within the emergency food system where it can reach those in need. Nearly thirty million people in the United States live in “food insecure” households—households where access to sufficient food is unreliable. Yet, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency estimates that more than one-quarter of America’s food, or about 96 billion pounds, goes to waste each year. Food For Free responds to both waste and hunger by rescuing fresh fruits and vegetables before they go to waste, helping to provide healthy food to more than 60 local emergency food programs, and over 20,000 individuals. Food For Free is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit. All three of our programs seek to address hunger by delivering fresh, nutritious foods to people in need. And all depend on participation and financial support from people like you. Thank you for your interest in our work—and thank you for your support. |
